Mothers with Altitude - To Erica from Her Mother and Her Chapter

Full Circle: A Mother’s Tribute to Her Daughter, Now a Mother Herself

I (Liz) was at work on Friday, October 27th when I got the news that I was anxiously awaiting.  I said to my husband Sal, “I’m leaving tonight, I want to see the baby being born”.  Sal responded, “You’re crazy, let Erica and Ricky enjoy their moment”.  He suggested I come home and depart early the next morning instead, but I was persistent, I had to leave right away, I needed to be by Erica’s side, I had to be a part of this most precious of moments.  As I was boarding the plane the next day Saturday October 28th at 5:50 a.m., Margot was entering the world.  When I saw my daughter holding my precious granddaughter, I was overcome by so many emotions.  Erica did it, she is a mom. My daughter has persevered throughout college, law school, battling the bar and finally landing in the perfect field she always wanted… Aviation. Margot’s mom, my daughter is a tough cookie, and I couldn’t be prouder and know she is going to raise her daughter to be the best possible version of herself as any woman can only hope for.

To Erica, With Admiration: A note from your chapter-mate and friend

When I first met Erica, I knew immediately she was a powerhouse - involved in multiple organizations, dedicated to uplifting women, and hard working as an aviation attorney. Over time, our professional relationship turned into a friendship, and I've seen her blossom as a mother as well.

She adores being a mom and she's also passionate about her career, and I love that Erica is honest about the sometimes-turbulent ride that is being a career mother. She's shared the ups and downs, the joys and the stressors, which makes me admire her even more because I know how hard she works. Together, we’ve celebrated each other, offered listening ears, exchanged pep talks, and collaborated to give back to our community. To me, our relationship embodies what our chapter is all about: providing genuine support for women in aviation.

Erica reminds me—and all of us—that leadership (and motherhood) isn’t about having it all figured out all the time. It’s about showing up and giving it your best. I’m thankful for the chance to work alongside her.
